Salemtown Board Co Skatepark - Nashville, TN

This isn't a widely known skatepark in Nashville. It's small. It's tucked away on the Northside in a parking lot. The skatepark is in the parking lot for Salemtown Skateboard Co. 1003 Buchanan St. Nashville, TN. Salemtown mostly makes cruisers for college kids. The store isn't open very often, but the skatepark is alway open during daylight. Well, lets get to it.

The park is small, but it rides smoothly. Let's start with the cool things. There is a giant octopus painted on the entire park area. It's a cement park in decent shape. There are three four foot high quarter pipes, a pyramid, a hip and a bank. There is not a lot of room to push, but you won't need it. It doesn't take a lot to pump your way around. On the negative side, it's small. Like I said, it doesn't take much to get around. The entire area is also on a slant. I'm not a huge fan of how much it's slanted, but it's still ok to skate. The slant gives you speed, a decent amount of it. The quarter at the bottom of the slanted park is four feet high with no deck. You only have about 3 inches on top to balance on. If you try any lip tricks, don't miss, it's a four foot fall to the beginning of the black top parking lot. If you lose your board, you better run after it, because it's heading down to the road.

My three takeaways for this park are: 1. Be prepared for a lot more speed then you think you'll get. 2. Wear a helmet. 3.There is a good mixture of fun and fear in the eyes of those skating this park.
